Congratulations Zoe and Olly

This was certainly a right state of affairs; an Aussie marrying a Pom!?

Olly the groom took part in a Thai kickboxing fight just two days before the actual wedding date but came out unscathed and after winning his match. This made Zoe (the bride) very happy.

The girls took over the spa the next day and everyone had a special massage, after which cocktails were shared and the families and friends started to get ready for the big day.

The Wedding was held at the Panwa House Restaurant on the beach; flowers were everywhere hanging from the trees, scattered on the floor of the restaurant - a very colourful sight.

The music started and Zoe and dad followed the bridesmaids dressed in pink out of Panwa House.

Tears, smiles, kisses and embraces were shared and there was a lovely feeling throughout the group.  A lot of Pimms and Singha was imbibed and a lot of photographs were taken.

Dinner was set and the music began, spirit balloons were lit and the band from the Timber Hut club in Phuket Town was there to share the special day. Then the DJ shook the floor and the party began!

Congratulations to Olly and Zoe!

Chiang Mai flower Festival

The Chiang Mai Flower Festival is a beautiful event not to be missed.

It was started because of the plethora of different types and colours of flowers that grow well in the northern climate.

A great place to stay during the festival is our sister hotel, the Kantary Hills Hotel on stylish Nimmanhaemin Road - famous for great shopping, restaurants and bars.

This wonderful celebration of beauty takes over Chiang Mai for a few days every year attracting both tourists and Thais alike. The festival is a great tourist attraction for all.

The roads are quickly filled with flowers, brass bands and a multitude of people in Thai cultural dress.

If you were lucky / patient you would have got a glimpse of Miss Thailand 2008 - but aren't all Thai women beautiful?

Happy New Year - Again!!!

It is that time of the year again and if you follow the Chinese calendar you’ll know that this particular year is the Year of the Tiger.

The ramifications of being in the Year of the Tiger are quite complex but the gist of it all is that after a previous difficult year we will look forward to a better one.

I can quite imagine that we could all think that!

At Cape Panwa Hotel we celebrate no fewer than three new years – Western, Chinese and Thai – and this year was no different.

We were supplied with copious amounts of Chinese delicacies prepared by our beloved Chef Phudon and his team.  The swimming pool was decorated with brilliantly coloured Chinese lanterns and tables were decorated with brilliant red sashes.
We were visited by a Chinese dragon who danced for us and then noisy firecrackers were set off.

新年快樂 (xīn nián kuài lè)
